Telugu writer, producer robbed of at knifepoint

Telugu writer Kona Venkat and producer DVV Danayya were robbed of cash and gold ornaments at knife-point in Mahabubnagar district of Telangana, police said today.
"The incident occurred last night on NH-2 under the limits of Shadnagar town of the district when they were going to Hyderabad after attending a birthday party," Shadnagar (Sub-Division) Deputy Superintendent of Police Kalmeshwar told PTI over phone.
When they were driving, they saw that some trees had been cut and put across the road to block the path. When they stopped their car, suddenly two persons approached them and threatened the duo and their driver, at knife-point and took away Rs 1,500 cash, besides two gold rings and two gold chains, the senior police officer said.
Following a complaint, a case was registered under section 392 (robbery) of IPC and further probe is on, the DSP said.
