Temenos, Geneva-based leading banking software vendor, today announced plans to increase headcount at its offices in Bengaluru and Chennai.
"The company is ramping up its headcount from 1,800 to almost 2,500 people over the next three years, making its India office, the largest product development centre across all its offices around the globe," Temenos India Regional Director S P Jayanthan told reporters here.
Bengaluru and Chennai offices have been spearheading the company's product innovation, including designing and supporting leading edge banking products such as T24, Temenos' award-winning core banking platform, used by banks in over 150 countries, he said.
The hires would be in several key verticals including banking product specialists, architects and engineers, Jayanthan said. "With the Multifonds acquisition, we were able to add 400 employees to our headcount with related domain experience," he said.
While the headcount in Chennai, where the company set up shop in 1996, is around 1,500, it is around 700 in Bengaluru where the operations were started in 2008 with the acquisition of financial Objects, Jayanthan said.
"We believe Bengaluru operation will grow at a faster rate in future," he said, adding "we expect Bengaluru to more than triple the strength in the next couple of years, with both centres having roughly the same number of people.

India has always been a key player in the Temenos' global growth strategy. Temenos CEO David Arnott attributed this to the availability of world-class talent here.
Temenos has in the past decade invested over USD 300 million into its development centres, Temenos Client Director, Mike Davis said, adding they will continue to do so in an increasing manner over the coming years.
Temenos, which closed its fiscal year 2014 with revenues of about half a billion USD, has been amongst first few software companies to setup a captive development centre in India, Arnott said.
