Bhawanipatna, the headquarter town of Kalahandi district, was the hottest place in the state with maximum temperature of 44 degrees Celsius.
Just behind was Titlagarh at 43.5 degrees Celsius, Sambalpur at 42 degrees Celsius, Hirakud at 41.3 degrees Celsius and Jharsuguda at 40.4 degrees Celsius.
Bhubaneswar, which experienced 32.4 mm rainfall during the last 24 hours, recorded a high of 35.7 degrees Celsius with humidity level at 100 per cent. The maximum temperature in neighbouring Cuttack was 35.2 degrees Celsius.
Meanwhile, the IMD predicted thundersquall and rainfall at some places in the next 24 hours.
