Hisar was the hottest place in the two states with a maximum temperature of 39.9 degrees Celsius, however it was one notch below normal, the MeT office said here.
Karnal recorded a high of 37.8 degrees Celsius, while the the maximum temperatures in Amritsar and Patiala was 37.1 degrees Celsius each, it said.
Chandigarh recorded its maximum at 36.8 degrees Celsius, followed by 36.7 degrees Celsius in Ludhiana which was one degree below normal.
The mercury in Ambala settled at 36.5 degrees Celsius, it said.
