Temperatures jump above normal in Punjab, Haryana

Maximum temperatures hovered between one to four degrees Celsius above normal in most parts of Punjab and Haryana today as rain showers at few places lift up humidity levels in the region.
The humidity levels oscillated between 60 to 84 per cent in several parts of the region, the MeT report said.
In the plains of Punjab and Haryana, Hisar was hottest with a high of 39.8 degree Celsius, four notches above normal.
Bhiwani settled at a high of 37 degree Celsius, while the maximum temperature at Amritsar was 36.8 degree Celsius, three notches above normal.
Among other places, Patiala and Ludhiana had a high of 35.7 degree Celsius, one and two notches above normal respectively, followed by 35.5 deg C at Chandigarh, 34.9 deg C at Ambala, and 34 deg C at Karnal.
The local MeT office has predicted light to moderate rainfall or thundershowers at isolated places in the region during the next 24 hours.
