The capital Delhi recorded a high of 40.5 degrees celsius, seven notches above normal and a minimum of 32.2 degrees celsius, six degrees above normal. Humidity in the city was between 33-64 per cent.
The Met office has predicted rain and thundershowers in some areas tomorrow.
Parts of Uttar Pradesh today received rain and thundershowers as the monsoon remained active over the state.
The cities which received rainfall include Patti, Amethi, Pratapgarh, Baberu, Jaunpur, Elginbridge, Handia, Kunda, Rajghat and Meja, the Met department said.
It forecast that rain or thundershowers are likely at many places over the eastern region and one or two places in the western parts of the state in the next 24 hours.
The met office warned that heavy rain might occur at one or two places over eastern parts in the next 24 hours.

Meanwhile, the monsoon has weakened and the rainfall is deficient by 37 per cent in Rajasthan.
The state normally receives 135 mm of rainfall from June one to July 19, but this year the total rainfall is 37 per cent less than the normal, according to the MeT department.
Eastern parts of the state received rainfall 24 per cent less than normal, while the deficit in Western parts comprising Jodhpur and Bikaner divisions is 57 per cent, it said.
The MeT department has predicted dry weather for the next couple of days.
