The incident took place yesterday when the miscreants, who posed as policemen and scribes intercepted a pan-masala laden tempo which was proceeding to Vasai near Chillar Phata on Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway and held driver Maqsud Khan captive, Police Sub Inspector (PSI) R A Bhore of Manor police station told PTI today.
The abductors, all aged between 30-40 demanded a ransom of Rs 10 lakh from the owner of the tempo for releasing the driver and threatened him of dire consequences on failing to pay up, he said.
A case under sections 341, 385, 170, 323, 506 of IPC has been registered.
