Temporary bridge washed away in flash floods

A temporary lower bridge across Amaravathy river at Pasupathy Palayam near here was washed away in flash floods today forcing the people to make a detour of five kms.
The river which remained parched for the past several years was in torrents due to heavy rains for the past four days and a lower bridge was constructed to link Karur Bazar area and Pasupathi palayam, revenue officials said.
Even the as the construction of the permanent bridge was going on, flood waters corroded the temporary lower bridge and completedly washed it off last night, they said.
