At least 11 bodies of labourers were pulled out today from the rubble of a marble mine in Pakistan's restive northwest tribal region.
According to political authorities, at least 17 labourers were buried alive as a marble quarry collapsed at the Ziarat mine in Safi tehsil in Mohmand Agency.
Meraj Khan, Political Tehsildar in the Safi area, said the death of 10 labourers has been confirmed.
He said the incident took place at Khanqah mountain when workers were busy loading trucks.
The Ziarat marble mine produces the famous Ziarat white marble that is much in demand in the country.
The mine owners and workers often use rudimentary methods to extract marble from the mines.
Rescue teams have also pulled out a labourer in injured condition while search for remaining six is underway till last reports.
