The traffickers were arrested from Mumbai and Hyderabad after a seven-member squad of Women Protection Cell, attached to Crime Investigation Department of AP Police, with the help of their Mumbai counterparts raided a flat on Lamington Road in Mumbai on September 17 and rescued ten girls, Additional Director General of Police S V Ramana Murthy said.
While one of the women was apprehended from Mumbai on September 17, two others were picked up from Hyderabad on September 19, he said.
The accused used to take the victim girls--six belonging to West Bengal--to Mumbai and other places for the purpose of commercial sexual exploitation, Murthy said, adding the trio were remanded in judicial custody today.
Efforts are on to nab other accused involved in trafficking of young girls while the rescued victims were sent to shelter home as per the court directions, the officer said.
