Dr D K Srivastava, Medical Superintendent, WCL, Chandrapur was handed out one year rigorous imprisonment yesterday, ten years after he received the sum. He was imposed with a fine of Rs 500 under relevant section of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
The Superintendent was also sentenced to a two-year RI and fined with Rs 1000 in another section of the PC Act, a release from CBI said today.
Later Srivastava was caught red handed while accepting the bribe from complainant Itankar in 2004 following which CBI had filed its charge sheet on October 15, 2004.
AYS Prasada Rao, Senior Public Prosecutor, CBI, Nagpur had appeared on behalf of the prosecution while investigation was supervised by SP Sandeep Tamgadge, CBI ACB, Nagpur, the release added.
