Tension gripped the Badaut police station area near here following reports of recovery of bovine animals' body parts this morning.
A police team was rushed to the eastern Yamunanagar area after reports that some pieces of flesh were lying there, ASP Baghpat Ashish Srivastav said.
He said samples of the flesh have been sent for examination to the veterinary department.
The police are yet to receive any complaint in this regard but the samples have been sent to ascertain the charge that they were of a cow, he said adding the culprits would be identified and nabbed soon.
The locals, meanwhile, staged a protest against the incident and raised slogans against the police.
Senior police and administrative officials, however, pacified the protestors promising to arrest the culprtis at the earliest.

BJP leader and chairman of Badaut municipality Amit Rana alleged that the police have failed to check illegal slaughtering of cows and other bovine aninals.
"If the police fail to arrest the culprits within two days, as promised, we will resort to traffic jam on Delhi-Saharanpur expressway," Rana said.
