The members of the community held a meeting this morning and demanded removal of the idol and closed their shops in the city in protest.
Later, they also attempted to take out a procession but were prevented from doing so by the police, following which they pelted stones and caused damage to some shops.
Some people have been detained in this connection, a police official said.
A few months earlier the forest department had carried out renovation work on the idol at the cenotaph atop the hill, Bundi SP Sunil Kumar Vishnoi said.
Kota range IG Vishal Bansal and other top officials of the region also rushed to Bundi to monitor the situation.
