Textbook scam: Badal approves terms of reference for inquiry
Press Trust of India Chandigarh Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today approved the 'terms of reference' for the inquiry into the alleged scam in purchase of study material by the education department for which minister Sikander Singh Maluka has come under fire from the Opposition.
The probe into allegations relating to purchase and supply of library books for primary and uppper-primary school through a private supplier has been entrusted to retired high court judge AN Jindal.
An official spokesperson today said that the scope of the probe would be to inquire into the supply of library books by a private supplier and the procurement of science kits for government schools.
The ambit of the probe, which has to be completed in three months, would include an examination of the roles of those who might be behind the alleged scam, the spokesperson added.
