A 38-member delegation led by Major General Thansak Poompeteh from Thailand will be arriving here to attend the 58th Dhamma Chakra Pravartan day, the anniversary of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar's conversion to Buddhism along with lakhs of his followers, on October 3.
Senior political leaders in the state would not be present for the function as the model code of conduct for the Assembly elections is in force.
Though the actual date of conversion is October 14, 1956, the anniversary is celebrated on Dussehra.
Major Gen Thansak and Dr Rungthip Chotnapalai, a Thai-Buddhist scholar along with the city mayor Pravin Datke will be the chief guests, said Sadanand Fulzele, secretary, Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Smarak Samiti.
Former Kerala Governor and Samiti chairman R S Gavai will preside over the function.
