Thailand minister visits Saibaba temple, lauds his teachings

Thailand's Education Minister Teerakiat Jareonsettasin has lauded Saibaba's teachings, saying they promote communal harmony and brotherhood among people of different religions.

He offered prayers at the famous Saibaba temple here Sunday evening, and said he hopes more people from his country would get to know about the revered saint and his teachings.

"I came to Shirdi because I know about Saibaba for quite sometime. I watched Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the shrine (in October)...," the minister told PTI.

He said though Saibaba died around 100 years ago, more and more people are visiting the temple to seek his blessings, which means "there is something great about him".

"Saibaba could bring harmony betweenMuslims and Hindus, so we can learn how to live together with different religions. I hope that with this visit, I will be able to bring more Thai people to learn about Saibaba," he said.

During his visit, Shri Saibaba Sansthan's trustee Bipin Kolhe presenting him an idol of the saint and a shawl.

The minister also visited the Saibaba English Medium School and interacted with students there.

Saibaba, a widely revered saint, is believed to have taken samadhi in Shirdi on October 15, 1918.
