BJP MP Anurag Thakur today held the Congress government in Himachal Pradesh responsible for poor state of sports infrastructure in the state.
The BJP MP's critical remarks for the Virbhadra Singh-led government came during his recent visit to Government Degree College in Hamirpur. He was disappointed over poor condition of an athletic track in the college premises.
"Under Prem Kumar Dhumal ji's tenure, the state government had spent Rs 6 crore for development of athletic track at Government Degree College Hamirpur, in order to promote sports amongst youth.
"However, the poor state of the facility under the Congress government highlights their lack of interest towards youth development," he alleged.
He said the area was covered with "grass, bushes and hemp", grown upto a knee-length.
"Even the indoor stadium is incomplete till date and no action has been taken to expedite the work for initiating work on this front," he added.
Thakur alleged the state government is least bothered "to utilise the available sports infrastructure for children".
