Dyanendrakumar Siaram Gautam was brought here from Patna by officials of Child Protection Unit (CPU) of Thane Police.
Gautam ran away from home fearing scolding by his father, an autorickshaw driver, for going for a swim without informing his family members, Inspector Madan Ballal of CPU said.
The boy first went to Pune and stayed there for a couple of days. Then he returned to Thane but did not go home and instead caught another train and went to Patna, where he got employed in a hotel.
Meanwhile, his parents registered a missing person complaint with the local police.
In Patna, Gautam was spotted roaming by the police. He tried to mislead police by giving a false name, Sunil Jaiswal. However, soon found out his real identity and contacted their counterparts in Thane.
A team from CPU went to the Bihar capital and brought Gautam and united him with his family, which stays in Waghiba Nagar, after seven months, he said.
