Thane has highest number of transgender voters in Maharashtra
Press Trust of India Thane Thane district has the maximum number of transgender voters enrolled among all the districts of the state, Thane Collector Mahendra Kalyankar said today. He was speaking at a function held here on the occasion of National Voters Day.
He informed that out of 1,847 transgender voters in the state, Thane had 330 such voters.
Farogue Mukadam, Deputy Election Officer of the district, said that Thane now had a total of 50,27,007 eligible voters.
The official informed that a total of 2,11,000 new voters had enrolled themselves in the past one year. She said that 2,186 voters had also enrolled online from the armed forces.
The function, which was held at the RG Gadkari Rangayatan here, was attended by top bureaucrats of the district as well as cine artistes like Karisma Kapoor and Bipasha Basu, all exhorting people, especially the youth, to enrol themselves as voters.
