Thane: man arrested for harassing a married woman

A man was arrested in Mumbra area near here last night for allegedly torturing and threatening a married woman.
The accused was identified as Abban Usman Kamani (24), resident of Mumbra. His mother too was allegedly involved in the offence and had been absconding, said police sub-inspector H S Kamraj.
According to the victim, a 30 years old woman, Kamani first borrowed Rs 10,000 from her, and began to demand more money.
When she refused, he threatened to blackmail her, and on a few occasions burnt her with cigarette butt, she has said.
His mother allegedly asked the woman to marry her son, threatening to harm her husband and child and throw acid on her, according to the complaint.

Police have lodged a case against Kamani and his mother for wrongful confinement, extortion, causing hurt to commit robbery and other relevance offences under the Indian Penal Code.
