Thane Municipal Corporation officials raze illegal bars

The Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) officials razed at least a dozen dance bars today which were operating illegally, the TMC said in an official press release issued here today evening.
TMC Public Relations Officer and Deputy Municipal Commissioner Sandeep Malvi said in the release that 'Operation Dance Bar' was carried out by a team of TMC officials and the Thane city police.
Allegedly, these bars had been operating as dance bars.
The demolition drive was carried out upon orders from TMC Chief Commissioner Aseem Gupta.
On several occasions, these bars were raided and their owners were also arrested.
Bars which were razed include Maya Bar, Sai Kiran (Jarna); Nakshatra, Chetan, Swaghat Sangeet, Lotus, Red Rose, Silver Spot, Jhulelal, Satyam and Gourava, the press release said.

The drive was carried out under the supervision of Deputy Municipal Commissioner K D Nipurte, of the anti- encroachment cell and the Zonal Deputy Municipal Commissioner Ashok Rankhamb, the release said.
