Thapar Univ to set up Management campus in Dera Bassi

Thapar University today said that it will set up a new Management campus at Dera Bassi in Mohali with an investment of Rs 130 crore.
The new campus will offer MBA courses in trimester mode with specialization in Operations, Information Systems, HR, Marketing and Finance for 2013-14 session, the University Director K K Raina said.
"The dedicated and competent faculty at LM Thapar School of Management (LMTSOM) will ensure the highest standards of teaching...," Raina said in a release.
Equipped with Wi-Fi connectivity, the new campus will offer concept classrooms which will enable students to access their assignments, library or study material at their own comfort and time, using the Learning Management System.
The students can catch up with the lecture delivered in the class on the local network and they can also access assignments while in the library and submit them sitting at home through their official ID, release said.
LMTSOM will also provide access to bulletin boards, web kiosk accessibility via Android and iOS mobile applications.

"The use of technology in business school will enhance the teaching and learning process and cater to the future needs of students who will be required to do things on the move while on the job. Keeping this in mind, we are making IT the backbone of LMTSOM," Raina added.
Besides the regular academic programmes, LMTSOM also plans Management Development Programmes to cater to the Training and Development needs of the Corporate Sector.
Thapar University, founded in 1956, is housed in a 250-acre campus in Patiala, Punjab. In 1985, it was awarded the status of a deemed university.
