Hollywood star Matt Damon has said that his upcoming film "The Great Wall" is a "historical fantasy" which resembles the most-watched TV show of today, "Game of Thrones".
The 46-year-old actor said that the movie has a feel similar to the HBO drama series, which is also set in the middle ages.
Damon revealed that the film centers around the idea that The Great Wall of China was erected to "defend the Northern (region)" of the country from the onslaught of mythical Chinese monsters like Tao Tei.
These creatures come to life in every 60 years and attack in hordes with "absolute ferocity" to destroy anything that cross their path, Damon said.
"They're unlike anything we've ever seen in the West... In order to combat them, the Chinese have assembled this group of warriors that are raised from birth to do nothing but defend Northern China, defend The Great Wall, against these beasts."
Talking about his role, Damon said that he plays William Garin, who is a battle-scarred mercenary and master archer.

In the film, Garin is taken captive by a secret army of elite warriors known as The Nameless Order.
To protect the humanity from supernatural forces, this army fights upon the one of the greatest defensive structures ever built, that is, The Great Wall, in a vast military outpost called the Fortress City.
"We begin our story with a group of mercenaries who are being pursued by nomads in Northern China around 1100 AD. It centres around this idea that The Great Wall was erected to defend Northern China from this onslaught of mythical Chinese monsters called Tao Tei that rise up every 60 years and attack with absolute ferocity."
Interestingly, Damon's character is joined by actor Pedro Pascal, who essayed Oberyn Martel in "GOT", on his journey.
The film releases in India on February 3.
