'The Hindu' forays into Tamil newspaper segment
Press Trust of India Chennai Chennai-based English daily 'The Hindu' today announced its foray into Tamil newspaper segment with the group's vernacular edition all set to hit the stands on September 16 in nine key markets.
The newspaper is simultaneously being launched across nine "key markets" in the state and "the initial print run is expected to be around six lakh copies", the paper said in a release here.
The paper would be launched on September 16 hitting the stands just before the festival season, it said.
"The (Tamil) daily will engage readers of all age groups with extensive regional, national and international news coverage. With an array of interesting supplements, the newspaper will be a balance mix of information and entertainment," it said.
Holding that 'The Hindu' had a 135 year-old legacy of excellence in reporting, an independent editorial and a strong network of correspondents across the globe, the release said the emergence of a Tamil daily from the group "will satisfy the quest of lakhs of Tamil readers for a newspaper that is known for its journalistic integrity.
