yesterday on Yamuna Expressway while being smuggled from Bhopal to Ghaziabad, is of bovine and five persons including the truck driver and the owner of the factory where the consignment was sent have been booked, police said today.
"The report of the government forensic lab, based in Deen Dayal Upadhyay Veterinary University, has confirmed that the meat seized from the truck on Yamuna Expressway was beef," Dy SP Sanjai Kumar said, adding a case has been registered against five accused.
"So far, case has been registered under relevant sections of Cow Protection Act and of IPC against truck driver Chand Mohammad, factory owner Shah Zama Khan, truck owner Zeeshan Qureshi, factory manager Rashid Qureshi and owner of Ghaziabad based firm AAL Ali Export Pvt Ltd," he said.
A truck, bearing Madhya Pradesh registration number, was seized yesterday with 27 tons of meat when it was being smuggled from Bhopal to Ghaziabad.
Truck driver Chand Mohammad, a resident of Pathan Tola of Badayun district, was arrested with his truck and the meat seized was sent to the government forensic lab at DDU Veterinary University for ascertain the variety of meat.
