Lionsgate is developing the film adaptation based on the graphic novel series of the same name by Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The twelve-issue comic series, which was published in 2004 and 2005, follows Alice Cohen, an ex-junkie who inherits a house in Brooklyn from her deceased grandmother.
She discovers a diary that reveals the creation of a golem in the 1930s set on revenge for the slaying of a good man.
Meanwhile, the film will center on the monster known as the Monolith.
Wilson was previously involved in the making of "Avengers: Age of Ultron".
He has worked on a lot of video games and trailers, including "Mass Effect 2" and "Star Wars: The Old Republic". As for Bettler, his credits included "Allan Quartermain" and the upcoming adaptation will be his first major assignment.
