The massacre killed 50 people and injured 53 in the wee hours on June 12, 2016 after a heavily-armed gunman opened fire and seized hostages in the club and was touted as the worst mass shooting in the history of the USA.
On the first anniversary of the incident, the 80- year-old actor poured his heart out to People magazine.
"The Pulse shootings shook me to the core. It brought the human cost of gun violence home for me. After Pulse, I understood the cost to our freedoms as well, as our very right to assemble was under attack. I knew we as a community had to respond," said Takei.
The group has also released a video marking the first year after the shootings.
