Puducherry registered an 8.4 percent growth rate in per capita income during the last fiscal (2015-2016).
A release from Department of Economics and Statistics of Puducherry government said today that this growth rate was more than the national level growth rate of 7.4 per cent.
It said the hike in growth rate was attributed to growth in agriculture, industry, trade and commerce and good governance in the Union Territory.
The release also pointed out that Union Territory ranked fourth among the States and Union Territories in respect of per capita income.
The country's average per capita income was Rs 93,293 during 2015-2016 while it was Rs 1,72,143 in Puducherry.
