Peerzada felt a pain in his chest in early hours today, his brother Usman Peerzada told PTI. He was rushed to Doctors Hospital, where he died before he could be provided medical aid.
Doctors said Peerzada suffered a massive heart attack. He is survived by two children.
Describing his brother as a "iconic force" behind Rafi Peer Theatre group, Usman Peerzada said: "Today we lost an artiste of tremendous talent."
Peerzada was a painter by profession and under his supervision, Rafi Peer Theatre provided the fun-starved people of Pakistan with regular entertainment through its plays and other endeavours.
Every year, Rafi Peer Theatre arranges performing arts performances featuring artistes from over 50 countries. Under Peerzada, the group also promoted Sufism. He trained numerous artistes in Pakistan.
A large number of people from different walks of life attended Peerzada's funeral this afternoon.
