Slamming Vinod Tawde, Shiv Sena spokesperson Neelam Gorhe today said there would have been no mismanagement in the Mumbai University if Maharashtra Education Minister's deputy Ravindra Waikar had enough powers.
"(Yuva Sena chief) Aaditya Thackeray met the Governor (C Vidyasagar Rao) today and discussed various issues related to education. The Governor took serious cognizance and gave appropriate directions to those concerned," Gorhe said in a statement issued here.
"If Minister of State for Education Ravindra Waikar had enough powers, this question (mismanagement of MU) wouldn't have arisen," she added.
Gorhe said people will not forget that Tawde has ignored the harm that will be caused to students by shirking off responsibility over the matter.
"It is a tragedy for students, teachers and education sector that you (Tawde) are satisfied giving an explanation that your resignation was not asked for (by Aaditya)," Gorhe said.
Earlier in the day, Aaditya had tweeted that he called on the Governor to raise the issue of "absolute mismanagement of the Mumbai University currently by the VC".

"With only a few lakh papers corrected by now, will all assessment meet the 31st deadline? Will marksheets be given too?" he had questioned.
"With hurried assessment, what is the quality of assessment? The MU must waive Rs 600 charged for revaluation by the MU," he further said.
Meanwhile, the Governor and Chancellor of University of Mumbai C Vidyasagar Rao today asked Vice Chancellor Dr Sanjay Deshmukh to further expedite the work of assessment of answer papers so that all the results could be declared by July 31 deadline.
