Thieves have decamped with a large quantity of biscuits worth over Rs 20 lakh from a factory in the UK.
The incident, said to be one of the biggest in the last 25 years, reported from Welsh factory in south Wales where unidentified men made off in a trailer containing biscuits worth 20,000 pounds, The Telegraph reported today.
The stolen trailer was later found empty in Warrington, Cheshire, more than 240 kilometres away from the crime scene.
Well-known treats such as Wagon Wheels and Jammie Dodgers are produced by the company.
"We're investigating the report of a trailer containing 20,000 pounds worth of biscuits being stolen from Burton's Food Ltd on Ty Coch Way in Cwmbran. Enquiries are currently ongoing," a company statement said.
Gwent Police said that a police investigation is underway, but that no arrests have been made so far.
Paul Williams, who is a former employee at Burton's, said the theft was unprecedented, adding, "I can't remember there being anything like it in 25 years.
