The burglary was reported from the bungalow of one Tanmay Seth in the posh Anand Lok residential area in Defence Colony on Sunday night, said a senior police officer.
The family of Tanmay, son-in-law of Jet Airways vice president(security) Avneet Singh, had gone to attend a marriage at around 9 pm on Sunday and there appeared to be certain lapses on the part of the family that facilitated access of the thieves in the bungalow, police said.
"The incident was reported around 4 AM yesterday and the family told the police that the main gate was left open so that they don't have to wake up anyone when they returned. A window of the house was not bolted and the thieves had an easy entry ," said Nupur Prasad, additional DCP-I (South).
The thieves are believed to have entered the bedroom on the first floor of the bungalow through the open window and collected the valuables and jewelleries kept in an almirah there, police said.
