Congress today gave indications of taking action against Ministers Pawan Kumar Bansal and Ashwani Kumar, saying anybody mired in corruption or manipulation will not be spared.
"Congress is not going to tolerate any corruption. It will not spare anybody mired in corruption...If anybody is involved in manipulation, that cannot be spared," Congress spokesman Bhakt Charan Das told reporters here in response to questions over the fate of Bansal and Kumar.
"Congress has always looked at the issue of corruption with seriousness and is examining this issue also very seriously," he said on the controversy surrounding Bansal and Kumar.
The comments indicate that the Congress could take action against Bansal and Kumar.
There is speculation that Bansal could be dropped and Kumar shifted to some other ministry in a reshuffle of the Union Council of Ministers shortly.
Bansal, the Railways Minister, is caught in controversy over allegations of bribery involving his nephew and a member of the Railway Board.
Kumar, the Law Minister, is under attack over vetting of CBI report on coal block allocations.
