Thousands of people today bid a tearful adieu to Sepoy Sunil Suryawanshi, who died in the recent Siachen avalanche, at his native Maskarwadi village in Maharashtra's Satara district.
The soldier was cremated with full military honours amid chants of 'Shaheed Sunil Suryawanshi amar rahe'. He leaves behind his wife and a daughter, whose first birthday is on Thursday.
Suryawanshi (25), a Sepoy Nursing Assistant in Army Medical Corps, was one of the 10 army personnel killed in the Siachen avalanche earlier this month.
His mortal remains were yesterday brought to the war memorial in Pune for a wreath laying ceremony and later taken to his village in Mann tehsil.
