Thousands witness 'operational display' on Navy Day
Press Trust of India Visakhapatnam Thousands of people today watched a colourful 'operational display' conducted by the Eastern Naval Command on the occasion of Navy Day here at the R K Beach, showing the multi-dimensional warfare capabilities of the Indian Navy.
Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Naval Command, Vice Admiral Anil Chopra was the Chief Guest.
He was greeted, on arrival, by a burst of 84mm Rockets and Water Plume Charges by Marine Commandos. This was followed by sky divers dropping in from the air with the National Flag and the Indian Naval Ensign.
Demonstration of helicopters landing and taking off from a moving column of warships in close formation and that of an amphibious assault by MARCOS commandos were other features.
Seventeen aircraft including the TU142-M, and the newly inducted P8I MR took part in a fly-past. The Hawk 132 Advanced Jet Trainers based at INS Dega too made their debut at the Operational Display.
