A threat phone call made to a Thane call centre of the national carrier Air India last week, in which an anonymous person allegedly threatened to hijack one of the carrier's flight on November 28, has been traced to Madhya Pradesh.
Preliminary investigation, following an FIR lodged by the state-owned airline, reveals that the said call was received from Madhya Pradesh, Thane Police PRO Gajanan Kabdule today said, without divulging any further details.
No arrest in the case has so far been made, he said adding that the ATS and Mumbai Crime Branch are also carrying out their investigation along with the Thane Police Crime Branch.
According to the FIR filed by the national carrier with the Shrinagar Police station in Thane, on November 20 at about 2225 hours, an unknown person called on the toll-free number of the AI call centre, threatening to hijack an Air India flight on November 28.
"Air India call centre in Thane received a threat call on Friday, November 20. The caller stated that he will hijack an AI plane," Air India said in a statement.
The Air India immediately took all the precautionary measures as per laid down standard operating procedures taken during such a threat call, it said adding that it has filed an FIR at the nearest police station in Thane.
