Three men were arrested from West Delhi's Uttam Nagar area for allegedly cheating people by posing as CBI informers, police said today.
Two of the accused -- Hari Prakash Sharma (31), a resident of Sonepat in Haryana, and Prahlad Bhagat Sharma (59) were together running the business of preparing false I-Cards.
The third accused -- Gagan Deep Singh (29), a resident of Karol Bagh, is a computer graphic designer who took orders from Hari Prakash and others for printing of CBI logos on T-Shirts, lanyards and badges on nominal charges, police said.
"Yesterday, at about 2.20 PM, Anil Kumar Singh, DSP/CBI, reported at Police Station, Uttam Nagar, that he received a message from CBI/Headquarter, Delhi that one person namely Hari Prakash Sharma wanted to meet him. After due formalities, Sharma was allowed to meet him," said Additional Commissioner of Police (West) Ranvir Singh.
During the meeting, Hari Prakash apparently told Anil Kumar Singh that he is a CBI informer and displayed an I-card which had a logo of CBI. He told him that he had come to arrange meeting of DSP/CBI with an accused in a CBI case.
Anil Kumar Singh, who was surprised that Hari Prakash had an I-card as CBI does not issue them to informers, asked where he got it from. Sharma then disclosed that Prahlad Bhagat had issued the fake I-card and he provided the same to many others from his house in Uttam Nagar. Sharma said Prahlad too had impersonated as an informer of CBI.
A raid was conducted at Prahlad Bhagat' house and he was arrested and several forged documents including 700 fake I-cards, 90 stickers, three white T-shirts, two caps, two bundles of ribbon -all carrying logos of CBI - were seized.

Stamps, CPU, photographs and frames of senior officers of CBI, booklets containing names and telephone numbers of CBI officers and Directory-2013 of Central Government Officials were also recovered from his place, said Singh.
Gagan Deep was later arrested from Tilak Nagar.
"The investigation has revealed that more persons are involved in this racket and teams have been constituted to arrest the other accused.
"During interrogation, the trio confessed their crime. To earn easy quick money and impress upon the bureaucrats they used to introduce themselves as CBI informers," said Singh.
