Three persons were today arrested here for their alleged involvement in a post-civic poll clash on April 18 that left one policeman injured, police said.
With today's arrest, ten persons have been arrested in connection with the case so far.
"While two accused persons, Mohammed Kamal (36) and Kalim Khan alias China (32) have been arrested this morning from Jorashanko police station area, another man Tarak Kotal was arrested from the Esplanade bus terminus area late this evening in connection with the shooting on April 18 just after the polls," Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Pallab Kanti Ghosh told PTI.
"Tarak alias Babli had hurled bombs at the police in the same case on April 18," he added.
Police said Kamal and Khan were close to alleged Trinamool Congress activist Gopal Tewari who is currently absconding.
Incidentally, arms and ammunition were seized from Tewari's residence yesterday by police who are on the look out for him.
Sub-inspector of Girish Park police station, Jagannath Mondal was injured after being hit by a bullet during a clash between two parties at Singhi Bagan soon after the April 18 voting for Kolkata Municipal Corporation board.
