Three arrested for robbing Rs 30 k in Shillong
Press Trust of India Shillong Three persons were arrested today for allegedly robbing a woman at gunpoint at her residence last night, while a former Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council militant, involved in the crime, escaped.
The police said that the robbers looted from D Rapthap in Mawsynram Rs 30,000 at gun point.
Acting on a tip-off, the police conducted vehicle checks on the Dangar-Mawsynram road and intercepted a taxi at Pomblang village and arrested the driver and two passengers.
An ex-HNLC cadre, who was also involved in the robbery, managed to escaped taking advantage of a jungle nearby, District SP (City) Vivek Syiem told reporters.
A 9mm pistol, a magazine and four 9mm rounds along with cash of Rs 6,666 were seized, Syiem said. The rest of the money, the police suspected, was with the former militant Synsharlang Thongni who escaped the police.
