In the incident, the victim's father also received bullet injuries after he and his son tried to prevent two men from stealing a car stereo as the accused fired upon them. The father of the victim was currently undergoing treatment.
The car used by the accused to escape from the crime spot was recovered from the Okhla Vihar area. Two empty cartridges were also recovered from the car, Deputy Commissioner of Police (south-east) Chinmoy Biswal said.
The incident that took place at 'O' Block, Saurabh Vihar (Jaitpur) was reported to the police at 4.20 AM on February 24. In the incident, Vishal (24), who received bullet injuries, was declared dead at the AIIMS trauma centre, while his father Madan Mohan (46) was undergoing treatment, the police said.
Vishal's brother Rohit told the police that his brother and father had tried to prevent two unidentified men from stealing the music system of a car. The accused were fleeing in a car, being driven by one of their associates, when they were challenged by Vishal and his father, the police said.

Initially, a case of fatal accident and attempt to theft was registered by the police. Subsequently, the murder charge was added as Vishal's autopsy report confirmed bullet injuries, Biswal said.
The police zeroed in on Shehnawaj (21) and Mohammad Yaseer (19), who were nabbed yesterday, and during questioning, they admitted their role in the case.
"They disclosed that they had gone to steal a car stereo, but when the victims tried to resist their attempt, they, along with their associate Ankur Dubey (22), fled the spot. Dubey was also caught from Karawal Nagar," the DCP said.
