The incident took place last night when the victims, identified as Eknath Ugle (35) Sanjay (32) and Keshav (30) were attacked by a criminal gang with swords and other sharp weapons while returning home after attending a ceremony , they said.
According to the police, three brothers, one of them Eknath had a past criminal record and was earlier booked by police, picked up a quarrel with members of the gang during a ceremony at a nearby place earlier in the evening.
One of the deceased, Eknath was a known criminal and was earlier booked by police under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCCOCA) in 2003, police said.
Top police officials rushed to the spot and investigations are on.
