Bodies of 45-year-old Magi Behera and his wife Sushama (35) were found in their rented house at Golapalli street under BN Pur police limits yesterday, police said.
Magi and Sushama have a 20-year-old son and a 15-year-old daughter. They were not at home when their parents took the extreme step.
Their son, Kalia, found Sushama lying on the floor, while Magi was hanging. "We suspect the couple might have committed suicide. The cause of the suicide is not known," said SP (Berhampur) Sarthak Sarangi. The exact cause of death would be known after postmortem, he said.
Nayak from Babanapur village was working as a carpenter in the town. "We suspect he might have consumed poison to end his life," said IIC of Berhampur town police station N K Nayak.
