He was speaking at a three-day international seminar on 'Impact of Peace, Conflict and Disturbances on Economic Development processes' which started here.
"There has been grave loss of human life and infrastructure in the valley during disturbances in 2008, 2009 and 2010. The academic loss suffered by students of all levels during this period was a matter of concern. But those times have passed and now students have to be more cautious and avoid getting entangled in such situations," Vohra said in his inaugural address at the seminar at Kashmir University.
The seminar has been organised by varsity's department of Economics in collaboration with Indian Economic Association (IEA).
Vohra, who is also Chancellor of the University, impressed upon the students to look into the geo-political aspects of disturbances in a conflict situation and gain maximum academic benefits from such conferences.
"These conferences and seminars provide an opportunity to the faculty members as well as the students to interact with economic experts from all over the world and the onus of making these conferences successful lies on the students who are main stakeholders of these discourses," he said.
Vohra said the recommendations and suggestions emerging from this seminar would have a bearing in terms of shaping the career and future of the younger generation. (More)
