A three-day festival, being organised here by the Kochi-Muziris Biennale (KMB) this week, will take a broad yet detailed view of creative writing that has enriched cultural profile of the city and the region surrounding it over the years, organisers said.
Named 'Kochi in Letters' (Akshrangalude Kochi), the March 13-15 event will also feature theatre shows, music recitals and traditional story-telling arts, the Kochi Biennale Foundation said.
There will be six sessions on literature centering around Malayalam. Sessions on other Indian languages as well as foreign will also be held, they said.
Renowned litterateur N S Madhavan is the artistic director of the festival being convened with support from Akashvani Kochi FM, Maharaja's College Old Students Association and Changampuzha Cultural Centre.
'Kochi in Letters', which features a grand line-up of writers, academicians and historians besides performing artistes, will be part of a regular 'Goshree Peruma' festival starting from the ongoing second KMB, the Foundation said.
"The effort is to provide links between visual arts and literature," informed KMB'14 Director of Programmes Riyas Komu at a press conference here, adding that the venues for the three days would be Changampuzha Park at Edappally, Maharaja's College in Ernakulam and Aspinwall House in Fort Kochi respectively.
"As the title suggests 'Kochi in Letters' has been conceived as a window to the fascinating world of written words," he added about the festival being curated by Mumbai-based Keli Ramachandran.
