The purpose of the seminar was to update the PCA panel umpires about the latest cricket laws/playing conditions and to sharpen their umpiring skills before the start of the state domestic season, which gets underway from April 20, a PCA spokesman said here today.
The faculty was headed by former international umpires Jasbir Singh and M S Mahal and current Ranji Trophy umpires Navdeep Singh and Bharti Vij.
The contents of the seminar included discussions on MCC laws, BCCI playing conditions and PCA playing conditions.
The participants had a thorough discussion on how to maintain the spirit of the game while supervising the matches.
Apart from practical demonstration audio visual aides were used to educate the umpires.
Participants were also told about ways to deal with situations arising out of adverse weather conditions.
Tips to improve match-management and communication skills were also given to the participating umpires which would enable them to improve their on-field performance, the spokesman said. PTI VJ AH
