Three dead, one injured as car plunges in river

At least three persons were killed and another seriously injured when a car in which they were travelling, plunged in a river at Bari in the district last night, the police said today.
While the bodies of all the deceased were recovered, the injured, identified as Pradeep Jena (42), has been admitted at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, they said.
The deceased have been identified as Ramesh Nayak (36), Debendra Das (30) and Roga Jena (31). Both deceased and injured belong to the Khemeswar village.
The Police said, four persons of the local Khemeswar village were travelling in a car towards Bari Mount from their village yesterday night.
The driver lost control over the vehicle, skidded off the road and fell into the Nua river near Chhatar village on Bari-Kalamatia road.
Pradeep, who was sitting on the front seat of the vehicle, managed to escape as the front door of the vehicle opened due to the mishap.

A local spotted Pradeep lying seriously injured in the river bank last night. Later, he was rescued and admitted at the local hospital. He was shifted SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack after his condition deteriorated.
The Police and fire tenders reached the spot and started rescue operations last night, but the bodies were finally fished out by the rescue teams today.
"The accident occurred around 9 PM on Thursday night when the driver lost control of the vehicle and it plunged into the river," said Anup Sahu, Jajpur SP.
