Three elephants die after being hit by train

Forest officials said the three full grown elephants died on the spot in Buxa reserve forest when the Guwahati-Ranchi Express rammed into them at about 6.30 PM.

The oncoming train hit the elephants when they were crossing the railway tracks, officials said.

Details are still awaited as the incident happened in a jungle, they said, adding that some other pachyderms might have been injured.
