Three feared drowned in Chenab in Doda

Three persons, including a driver, were feared drowned after the vehicle they were travelling in skidded off the road and fell into Chenab river in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir today.
The tipper, which was on its way to Doda from Thathri, skidded off the road and fell into Chenab at Karara around 7:30 AM, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Doda, Zahid Naseem Manhas, said.
"As of now we are not sure that how many people were in the vehicle at the time of accident. We started rescue operations at 8 AM and are trying our best to locate the tipper," he said.
He said divers have been called and an alert has been sounded along the river to locate those missing, including the driver.
The driver has been identified as Mehboob Ali, a resident of Khilhotran Bhalessa in Doda district. However, the identify of others has not been ascertained yet, he said.
