Three girls killed, woman injured by lightening

Three girls were killed and a woman was seriously injured in a village in Katihar district of Bihar today when lightening struck them while they were taking bath in a pond.
Katihar District Magistrate (DM) Lalan Ji said the incident happened at Nauranga village under Azamnagar police station and the deceased have been identified as Sarthi Kumari (11), Bharti Kumari (13) - both daughters of one Dukhai Chaudhary of the village and Aarti Kumari (11), daughter of Manoj Chaudhary.
The DM said the girls and the injured woman were taking bath in the village pond and were about to come out when lightening struck them. The injured woman, Julie Devi, has been admitted to a government hospital.

The DM added the circle officer has been sent to the village to probe the incident and compensation would be provided to the families of the victims as per government rules.
