"The trio had landed here from Dubai separately. They were arrested for allegedly trying to smuggle in 26 gold bars, weighing 3032.64 grams, priced at Rs 82,48,780," an official statement by the Customs department said.
While Mohamad Gouse Shingati (48) was held along with his 17-year-old daughter after they landed from a Emirates flight, a 24-year-old woman, identified as Mariyam Begum, was intercepted separately and gold bars seized from her.
However, the statement did not mention the exact number of gold bars seized from each of the trio.
